Carter Loughman Wins James C. Metzger MVP Lacrosse Award
Wantagh High School defeats Kings Park High School in Class C Long Island Championships.

Trailing by five goals in the second quarter, Wantagh High School rallied during the second half to defeat Kings Park High School 16-15 in the Class C 2025 Long Island Boys Lacrosse Championships held at Hofstra University on Wednesday, June 4. Junior midfielder Carter Loughman scored four goals and received the James C. Metzger MVP Award.
“Playing sports has always been a passion of mine,” Loughman explained in personal statement on his lacrosse online profile. “As I got older, it became clear to me that lacrosse was my dream sport. I knew this was something I wanted to play in college and for the rest of my life. I value the relationship I have with my teammates, the thrill of competition, and constantly growing and improving as a player. College lacrosse represents the next step of this very special journey for me.”
A 1970s Long Island lacrosse star and now a lacrosse benefactor, James C. Metzger received the 1977 Lt. Ray Enners Award as outstanding Suffolk County player and then was an All-American at Hofstra University. A member of the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame and the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, he is founder, chairman and CEO of Whitmore – The Agency, an insurance and financial services firm in Garden City now known as Acrisure.

The award was presented by Jim Amen, Section VIII high school boys lacrosse coordinator. Amen graduated from Massapequa High school and played lacrosse and soccer at Cortland State Teachers College. He was an assistant lacrosse coach at Hofstra University during 1977 and then an assistant coach and head scout at Johns Hopkins University. On Long Island, he coached various lacrosse championship teams while serving as an athletics administrator at several school districts.
