Crime Report: Shopping Cart Fires, Assault by Bartender

Recent incident reports in Wantagh and Seaford from the 7th Precinct.

  • A woman reported to police on Jan. 6 that her Coach purse and wallet were stolen from on 3039 Merrick Rd., Wantagh. The complainant also reported that she was notified that charges on her Visa account in the amount of $192.37 were made at a 7-11 at unknown location.
  • A shopping cart was discovered set on fire between Jan. 6 and 7 at Iavarone Brothers Deli on 1166 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh.
  • An anonymous caller reported a fire in the rear of a shopping center on 3305 Jerusalem Avenue in Wantagh on Jan. 7.  When police arrived on the scene it was determined that a shopping cart was set on fire. The responded to extinguish the fire.
  • A complainant reported on Jan. 9 being assaulted by a female bartender at the on 3039 Merrick Road, Wantagh. Police said the complainant was punched in the face with her closed fist. The suspect had approached the complainant after the restaurant was closed, according to police. The suspect left the restaurant in unknown direction in an undetermined vehicle.
  • The rear bumper to a company delivery van was reported stolen from Iavarone Brother’s Deli on 1166 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh between Jan. 9 and 10. The van was parked in the rear of the business.

The information is taken directly from incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.
