Derby Day Bourbon Festival Canceled; Tickets Refunded

Organized John Murray said the Mulcahy's event was unable to overcome regulatory issues with the state.

WANTAGH, NY — The Bourbon Festival planned for Saturday has been canceled.

Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall posted on its website that: "Unfortunately this event has been canceled. If you bought a ticket, you will be automatically refunded."

It was planned to coincide with the Kentucky Derby, the first leg of Thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown.

However, organizer John Murray said the festival ran into regulatory issues with the State Liquor Authority.

Unlimited sampling of bourbon was to be part of the four-hour event.

"The last thing we wanted to do was cancel this, but we basically were left with no choice," Murray told Patch.

Tickets had been available for $59 and $99.
