Police say the crash happened at 4:44 a.m. Friday morning.

SEAFORD, NY. — An off-duty Nassau County police officer was arrested Friday morning and faces a DWI charge after his 2024 Ford Bronco struck a garbage truck on Route 135 near exit 4, police said.

Nassau County police reported Friday afternoon that 31-year-old Huntington Station resident Dominick Milazzo was driving northbound in the road’s southbound lanes at the time of the crash. Milazzo and three garbage truck passengers — aged 56, 31 and 19 — were hospitalized with minor injuries after the crash.

An arrest into the crash is ongoing, police said. Police said Milazzo was arrested without incident and now faces one count of driving while intoxicated. His arraignment, police said, will take place once medically practical.
