Undefeated Seaford Soccer Team Honored By BOE

The girls' team went undefeated in the regular season, scoring 55 goals and only conceding 14.

SEAFORD, NY. — The Seaford Board of Education took time at the start of its Dec. 10 board meeting to honor Seaford High School’s girls’ soccer team, which went undefeated in the regular season and won the Class ‘A’ Nassau County championship.

“It’s absolutely incredible, every year, that our athletes perform on such an amazing level,” Superintendent Dr. Adele Pecora said. “And I was at the Nassau County championship game, you girls played with your hearts, it was just absolutely incredible to see the athleticism on the field.”

In their incredible season, Seaford soccer scored 55 goals and only conceded 14. The team was also named a scholar-athlete team, meaning 75% of the student athletes on the team maintained a 90% or higher grade point average throughout their season, and 12 of its players won county-level awards. Finally, the Nassau County Coaches Association awarded Seaford with the title of the best team in Nassau County.

At the helm of the team was middle school health and physical education teacher Ken Botti, who was named coach of the year for the 2025 girls’ soccer season. It was his fifth time earning the award since taking over the program in 2015.

“Under his leadership we’ve won four conference championships, we’ve won two Nassau County championships, and we’ve won a Long Island championship. In this crowd, I know many of the girls very well here, 10 of them were part of two of those championships; so, they have two Nassau County championships under their belt and one Long Island championship, which is even more impressive. You guys are part of history, and your legacy will live on,” Athletic Director Kevin Witt said at the meeting.

“I could just go on about Kenny Botti, he’s really everything you would ask for in a coach,” Witt added. “He’s super committed, he works so hard during the offseason, he has great relationships with his student-athletes, he’s always prepared…We’re losing so many great athletes that are going on to play in college and had phenomenal careers, but as soon as the season ends he’s already thinking about the next season.”

From Botti’s point of view, the season marked an important step in the program’s history, taking a historic Class ‘B’ program into a larger, more competitive division.

“Quite a team we have out there. Bold claim, but best team ever, in Seaford history," Botti said. "Four years ago we win the class B county championship, and some of our friends next door seem to think that’s not a ‘real’ county championship, so now we have the ‘A’ under our belt, and we can put that in their face.”

Botti also highlighted non-league wins over Calhoun, MacArthur and Port Washington high schools, all larger schools than Seaford, as some of the games he was most proud of from this season.

“Besides being one of the best [teams in school history], deep and complete, just a great group of kids; easy to work with, fun to be with, so I can’t complain there. It was always a joy coming to work, every day. So, ladies, I do really appreciate that. Those of you that are leaving, we appreciate everything that you’ve done, and those of you that are returning, I hope you’re gearing up for another run, because we’ve got plenty of talent to go.”

After remarks from Pecora, Witt and Botti, members of the team were called to the stage to accept a plaque on behalf of the district and a photo of the team was taken.
