Empire State Of Mind: Mandalay Students Present On New York Regions

This was the fourth year students prepared travel brochures on New York State, district officials say.

WANTAGH, NY. — Mandalay Elementary School students transformed into travel agents for a day Thursday, as the school hosted a travel fair to showcase student presentations on different regions across New York.

The school presented the travel fair as part of its social studies curriculum, giving students the chance to study a specific region of New York, from a list that included the Adirondacks, the Capital Region, the Catskills, Central New York, the Finger Lakes, Long Island, New York City and Western New York.

Students conducted research with a blend of digital and textual sources, creating digital brochures for their regions including bodies of water, culture, historical sites, landforms and fun facts. At the travel fair, students showcased their brochures in presentations to the assembled crowd.
