Female Dies After Nassau House Fire Saturday Night: Police

The fire broke out just before 8 p.m.. officials say.

WANTAGH, NY — A female died after a Wantagh house fire Saturday night, police said.

According to Nassau County police, homicide squad detectives are investigating the blaze, which took place at 7:57 p.m. at a home on Stanford Court.

Upon arrival, officers observed a working house fire; the Wantagh Fire Department, North Bellmore Fire Department, Seaford Fire Department and Bethpage Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire, police said.

A female was removed from the residence and transported to a local hospital, police said. She was pronounced at 9:12 pm by hospital staff, police said.

Homicide detectives, arson/bomb squad detectives and fire marshals were at the scene; the investigation is ongoing, police said.
