Hundreds Of Seniors Cut Classes; Get Rowdy, Fight At Jones Beach: Police
One person, Kyle Thomas, was arrested for displaying a firearm at officers, police said.
WANTAGH, NY — A large disturbance took place at Jones Beach on Thursday, police said. Hundreds of students, reportedly, participating in a Senior Cut Day.
The crowd got so loud and disorderly that Nassau police requested assistance from the NYPD. Approximately 300 people began fighting on the beach, police said.
The Nassau County Police Department responded with a significant amount of resources including the Emergency Services Unit, Bureau of Special Operations and Aviation Unit. The crowd eventually dispersed.

There were four minor injuries as a result of fights, those people were all treated at scene and refused further medical attention, police said.
While officers were at the scene, they were approached by a man who lifted his shirt and displayed the handle of what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband, authorities said.

Kyle Thomas, 18, of Valley Stream was arrested without incident and an imitation firearm was recovered, police said.
He is charged with second-degree menacing and Disorderly Conduct, police said. Thomas was issued an appearance ticket to return on June 27.
