Jones Beach Ironman 70.3 Triathlon Sells Out Ahead Of Sept. Event
The competition, along the Atlantic, features a 56-mile bike ride.
WANTAGH, NY — The first Ironman 70.3 triathlon at Jones Beach has garnered so much interest that it's a sell-out.
More than 3,700 athletes will participate in the Ironman event along the shores of Jones Beach on Sept. 23.
The unique competition starts with a 1.2-mile swim in Zach's Bay in the shadow of the Jones Beach Amphitheater. That gets the group warmed up for the 56-mile bike race on the flat course of the Wantagh Parkway. It concludes with a 13.1-mile run onto the boardwalk along the Atlantic Ocean with the finish line on the beach.

"When we first identified Jones Beach as a potential host location for an Ironman 70.3 triathlon, we knew that this destination would be very desirable and athletes have shown that," Dave Christen, Sr. Regional Director for The Ironman Group, said.
There are still a limited number of entries available through The Ironman Foundation and Enhanced Athlete Event Experiences.
