More Than 500 Tickets Issued By Troopers During DWI Campaign On LI
State police also said 163 people were stopped for speeding between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3.

FARMINGDALE, NY — State police released the results of their annual Halloween campaign to crackdown on DWI drivers.
From Oct. 31 to Nov. 3, troopers on Long Island made 10 DWI arrests. They wrote up 163 tickets for speeding. State police also issued 65 tickets for distracted driving. Another 13 people were ticketed for not wearing a seat belt or having a child restraint attached.
Additionally, seven people were cited for failing to move over on the highway.

Overall, during the four-day initiative, troopers issued 538 tickets including other violations.
During the Halloween campaign, state police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols and ticketed distracted drivers who used handheld electronic devices.
