Cawley, who was a Bellmore resident, answered the call on Sept. 11, 2001 joining his Rescue Company 4 colleagues at the World Trade Center. Even though his shift ended early that morning, when reports of the disaster came in, Cawley, 32, jumped aboard the truck and rode into Manhattan determined to help save lives, as stated on the foundation's website.
Suggested donation for the fundraiser is $25. For more information, you can call (718) 359-8430 or visit the foundation's website: ffmichaeljcawley.org.
