Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Nassau Police Vehicle: Police

The unidentified 22-year-old victim was crossing Wantagh Avenue on Friday morning, police said.

WANTAGH, NY — A male pedestrian was struck by a marked Nassau police vehicle and killed on Friday morning in Wantagh, authorities said.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the 22-year-old victim was crossing Wantagh Avenue at the intersection of Duck Pond Drive North when he was struck, police said.

The victim suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later at a nearby hospital, police said.

Two officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police are investigating.
