Seaford Gets Forfeit Football Win Due To COVID-19

Island Trees forfeited its Friday game after a coach and some players tested positive for COVID-19, according to a report.

SEAFORD, NY — The top-seeded Seaford High School football team got a free victory on Friday as Island Trees was forced to forfeit due to COVID-19, Newsday reported.

A coach and several players tested positive for Island Trees, which finished the season at 4-4 and a setting up a post-season rematch with Seaford.

Island Trees Athletic Director Sean Burns told Newsday, "It’s unfortunate and absolutely the last call we wanted to make because we wanted to end our season on the field."

The undefeated Vikings finished the regular season at 8-0 as the semifinals begin next week at Hofstra University.
