Seaford Man Arrested in Dairy Barn Robbery

Man arrested for robbery in Massapequa and van theft in Seaford.

A Seaford man who was spotted trespassing at a home he'd been kicked out of was arrested Tuesday afternoon for in Massapequa, police said.

Christopher Kelly, 23, was seen on a property located on Remsen Street where he had been a tenant at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to cops. Somebody alerted the homeowner who called police.

When police arrived, Kelly was gone, but they discovered a van parked at the property that had been reported stolen from the Monday hours before the Massapequa robbery.

Monday, Kelly allegedly held up the Dairy Barn located on North Broadway in Massapequa, police said.

Kelly, who was carrying a serrated weapon and wearing a black ski mask during the robbery, struck at 9:15 p.m. He walked into the store and demanded money from the cashier, who was alone inside.

Kelly then reached into the cash register and grabbed an unknown amount of cash before fleeing on foot towards North Maple Street, police said.

The proceeds from the robbery and the weapon, a 10-inch wallboard saw, were recovered from the van Tuesday afternoon.

Police canvassed the area and found Kelly a short time later. 

Kelly was charged with first degree robbery, grand larceny in connection with the van theft, weapons possession and criminal trespass. He was arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
