Signing Day At Wantagh: See Which Athletes Will Be Playing In College

WANTAGH, NY. — Wantagh High School played host to administrators, coaches, families and guidance counselors Monday as a group of 10 Wantagh athletes put pen to paper to start the next chapter of their academic and athletic careers: College athletics.

A ceremony celebrating the letter signings featured addresses to the students from Principal Dr. Paul Guzzone, as well Wantagh High School Athletic Director Jennifer Keane.

“We recognize 10 outstanding student-athletes whose hard work, perseverance and
passion have led them to this moment,” Keane said. “We cannot wait to see all that they accomplish at the collegiate level.”

Keane added that the young student-athletes have managed to juggle athletics and academics with, “remarkable dedication, and represented their school with integrity and heart.”

In his own remarks, district officials said Guzzone highlighted the sacrifices the young athletes have made, acknowledging their commitment and highlighting the growth and learning that will come with playing college sports.

Assistant Principal Dr. Christopher Widmann introduced the students, who are listed below by sport and university:

Baseball: Ryan Tullo, Lynn University.

Boys Lacrosse: Matthew Giacabello, St. Anselm College; Carter Loughman, University
of Albany; Joseph Nicholson and Devin Paccione, Villanova University; and Gianni Passaro,
Mount St. Mary’s University.

Girls Lacrosse: Sabrina Asadurian, Stony Brook University; Mia Dankenbrink, Siena
College; Madeline Drago, University of Maryland; and Madeline Gonzalez, Iona University.
