Wantagh Boy, Who Died of Rare Cancer, Remembered In Community
A celebration of Joshua Encarnacion's life was held Sunday at Mulcahy's Pub.

WANTAGH, NY — A Wantagh family is remembering a boy who died of a rare form of cancer.
Joshua Encarnacion was just 11 years old when he died on Sept. 1, Newsday reported. He was days away fromf his 12th birthday.
He battled a rare and aggressive form of pediatric cancer for more than a year.

Before the illness, Encarnacion was athletic, playing basketball, football, lacrosse and soccer, Newsday said.
He attended Mandalay Elementary School and Wantagh Middle School.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday at St. Frances de Chantal church in Wantagh. Hundreds attended a celebration of Encarnacion's Sunday at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert.
