WANTAGH, NY — On top of their online learning, some Wantagh Middle School students found creative ways to reach out to community members in need during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Emma Palmisano, along with her brother Frank and cousin Julia, raised more than $200 selling homemade Rainbow Loom bracelets for first responders working at NYU Winthrop Hospital.

The students displayed their bracelets on a table in their driveway while practicing social distancing. Emma's brother and cousins rode their bikes throughout the neighborhood with signs to advertise for their fundraiser. The students plan on continuing the fundraiser through the summer months.
