Wantagh Winter Wonderland 2019: Everything You Need To Know
Organizers estimate about 1,000 people will attend this year — including Ms. Wantagh.

WANTAGH, NY — Santa Claus, a holiday trolley, a 40-foot Christmas tree, festive decorations and tasty pizza are coming to Wantagh as part of the second annual Winter Wonderland. Coinciding with Small Business Saturday, the free outdoor event at the Wantagh Preservation Society will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 and end at 6 p.m.
A Christmas tree and menorah will be lit to signify the start of the season, Marilynne Rich, vice president at the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce, told Patch on Thursday. Tree lights and decorations will be improved over last year, she said, after some said it needed more lights.
Kids will be able to see Santa Claus, listen to live music and eat tasty morsels including cakes, chocolates and cookies. Pies on Wheels will offer festival-goers pizza from its food truck, while hot cocoa and coffee will be available from Pipeline Coffee Company. Other activities include arts and crafts, caroling, a photo booth and shopping — more than 50 vendors plan to participate.

"I couldn't believe the amount of people that showed up," Rich said.

The Winter Wonderland is sponsored this year by SAS Real Estate, which has been in business for over 40 years on Wantagh Avenue. The first 300 families will get a swag bag.
Performers include FiveStone Band, Jewel Tones Holiday Carolers and the Wantagh American Legion Pipe Band, as well as a DJ.
Attendees are encouraged to park at Wantagh High School and take a holiday trolley to the festival. Handicap parking will be available near the festival entrance.
Attendees are invited to tour the train museum as well, which recently debuted some new additions. Kids will be able to see Santa at the museum and climb aboard the trains.
Sorry parents — alcohol won't be available, so you'll have to find another way to stay warm. Pets are also not allowed.
