Wantagh's Capobianco Advances In Quest For Another Medal
Andrew Capobianco qualified Monday for the 3-meter springboard diving semifinals at the Tokyo Olympics.

TOKYO, JAPAN — Wantagh's favorite son Andrew Capobianco is hoping to double his Olympic medal count. The former Long Island diving star has qualified for the semifinals in the 3-meter springboard event.
Capobianco was 17th among the 18 divers who advanced to the next round. His point total for the six dives was 385.50, although his fourth plunge almost eliminated him with a 36.00.
A pair of Chinese divers, who combined to win gold last week in the 3-meter synchronized competition, stand one and two.

Capobianco, 21, in his first Olympiad, won silver in that event.
The 3-meter semifinals take place tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern.
