HEMPSTEAD, NY — If you're planning an overseas trip this summer, the Town of Hempstead is streamlining the process.
A Weekend Passport Day is being held on Saturday, March 8. It offers a convenient weekend date to apply for the document. It is being held by appointment only.
The U.S. Department of State, which issues passports, is currently taking eight-10 weeks to process a routine passport. Residents are encouraged to plan well ahead when your travel is planned.

Applications can be filled in advance with black ink, but do not sign until instructed by a passport officer or at the appointment.
