Woman Resisting Arrest Injures Trooper In Nassau: State Police

Hillary Okeke, 46, faces charges that include reckless driving and reckless endangerment, police said.

WANTAGH, NY — A woman was charged after refusing to stop with an improper license plate on the Southern State Parkway this week, state police said.

Hillary Okeke, 46, of the Bronx, initally pulled over in the vicinity of Exit 28 in Wantagh on Wednesday morning, but she quickly refused to cooperate and fled, police said.

The trooper pursued Okeke, who continued northbound on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, where she sideswiped another vehicle before coming to a stop, state police said.

Okeke resisted arrest, but was taken into custody. A trooper suffered minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital.

Okeke was also transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

She was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and criminal mischief, police said.
