Underwater Worker Airlifted To Hospital After Suffering Injury: Police

WANTAGH, NY — Officers responded for a man in need of medical attention on the Meadowbrook Parkway Bridge in Wantagh, police said.

While working underwater at the bridge on Thursday morning, the 34-year-old victim suffered a severe laceration to his hand, police said.

Marine bureau officers applied a tourniquet and the man was transported to the Jones Beach Coast Guard station. The victim was airlifted to an area hospital for further treatment and evaluation, police said.
