Bicyclist Struck By Car In Washington Heights, Officials Say

The bicyclist was hospitalized after being hit by a car in the intersection of West 187th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A bicyclist was hospitalized Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Washington Heights, police and fire officials said.

The bicyclist was struck in the intersection of West 187th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue shortly after 2 p.m., an FDNY spokeswoman said. The bicyclist was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital, the spokeswoman said. Details about the person's identity or injuries could not be confirmed.

An NYPD spokesman could not confirm details about how the collision occurred, or whether the motorist stayed on the scene.

Six bicyclists have been injured at the intersection of West 187th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue since 2009, according to city Vision Zero data.
