Woman Shot During Washington Heights Drive-By, Police Say

The woman was grazed by a bullet early Wednesday morning while walking in Washington Heights.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A woman was injured during a drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning in Washington Heights, police said.

The 21-year-old woman was walking on West 158th Street near Amsterdam Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. when a white car pulled up near her and a gunman fired several shots at her, an NYPD spokesman said. The woman was grazed in the head by a bullet and was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition, the spokesman said.

The NYPD is investigating the shooting and no suspects have been identified, police said. Police did not know the motive behind the drive-by shooting.
