WEST VILLAGE, NY — Neighbors in the West Village can eat away their doldrums at a discount.
This year's first New York City Restaurant Week kicked off on Tuesday, which included 15 eateries in the West Village participating in the campaign.
The deals-oriented campaign includes two-course lunches for $29 per-person, and three-course dinners for $39 apiece at participating restaurants. If you want to splurge, some restaurants will offer pricier $59 dinners.

The event's website describes Restaurant Week as "your chance to try it all in the most vibrant dining scene in the world," and — as in years past — that's more true in certain neighborhoods than others.
Only one of the 380 Manhattan eateries participating in Restaurant Week is located in Washington Heights, for instance. By contrast, 81 restaurants are located in Midtown.
