Buzz Surrounds French Bistro Opening In The West Village

A chef who formerly worked at lauded restaurants such as Le Bernardin and Eleven Madison Park is at the helm of the new West Village eatery.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A chef who has worked at some of the highest-rated restaurants in Manhattan is opening a new French bistro in the West Village on Wednesday night.

Marian's will open at 5:30 p.m. on 24 Greenwich Street.

Chef Christian Rowan owns the restaurant and will helm the kitchen, he has previously worked at acclaimed eateries such as Bouley, Le Bernardin, Eleven Madison Park, and The NoMad Hotel.

"It is his firm belief that really good food does not have to be presumptuous, but rather, can be approachable and fun," reads an about section on Marian's website.

The new West Village restaurant gets its name from Rowan's grandmother, "as a tribute to her impact on his life."

Rowan told Grub Street that his choice to name the restaurant after his grandmother wasn't due to her cooking abilities or her influence on his own culinary skills, but instead because "she was his biggest fan and told him to just do whatever the hell it was that made him happy."

The dinner menu includes warm Foccacia, New England clam chowder, short rib pappardelle, hanger steak, and more.
