GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — You might not find Bob Dylan writing songs in the corner, but an iconic Greenwich Village cafe that used to be a favorite of legendary writers and musicians has reopened in the neighborhood with a new more modern look.

Figaro Cafe, run by the husband and wife duo of Mario and Marta Skaric, reopened recently with a "modern interpretation of the iconic cafe."

“When we dove into researching the significance of the space, we knew we wanted to be a part of the long and storied history of Figaro,” Mario said in a news release. “We would pay proper homage to it and give it a new life as a gathering space for modern crowds.”

The original Le Figaro Cafe opened in 1957 before eventually closing in 2008.

Now dubbed as Figaro Cafe, the new version is less a coffee shop and more a restaurant and cocktail bar.

There is an extensive cocktail list and a selection of spiritless drinks.

What there won't be is a cast of legendary regulars that included Dylan, Jack Kerouac, Lenny Bruce, Lou Reed, Alan Ginsberg, Al Pachino, and Sam Shepard.

The space itself has a centerpiece 25-foot bar, columns, high shelves, and a library ladder to reach bottles.

"The new Figaro Café can be what the old one was - a neighborhood oasis, everyone’s favorite go-to bar, a choice for a family night out or a date," Mario said in a news release. "We think we created just that.”

Figaro Cafe is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday, and for dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. from Monday through Sunday.
