LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — An 11,000-square-foot mural was just unveiled in Lower Manhattan's Hudson Square, which becomes one of the largest in New York City.

Hundreds of volunteer students painted the mural that now encompasses a previously muted Greenwich Street corridor from West Houston to Spring Street.

The mural starts at 522 Greenwich St.

The name of the mural is "Fractured Spectrum: Colors in Motion," and it was unveiled this week by Hudson Square Properties — a joint venture between Trinity Chruch Wall Street, Norges Bank Investment Management, and the real estate firm Hines.

The work was also done with Publicolor, UPS, and the Hudson Square Business Improvement District.

Publicolor's mission is to engage NYC students at risk of dropping out and provide them with programs and resources for academic and career success.

"Transforming this public space in Hudson Square not only provided students with a hands-on, collaborative, experiential learning project, but also essential engagement and empowerment," reads a news release about the mural.

The mural itself is part of a larger vision from Hudson Square Properties to transform Hudson Square into a "vibrant, welcoming and collaborative art destination."

For those unfamiliar with the boundaries of Hudson Square, it is generally considered to exist between Clarkson Street on the north, Canal Street on the south, Sixth Avenue on the east, and West Street on the west.
