NYC Village Halloween Parade Hopes To Return After 2020 Hiatus
The famous Halloween parade is pushing to return to Greenwich Village in 2021, but organizers still need help funding the operation.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Tens of thousands of zombies, witches, ghosts, cats, and other costumed New Yorkers will possibly return to Greenwich Village this Halloween.
New York City's Village Halloween Parade is tentatively back in 2021 on Oct. 31 for its 48th rendition after a yearlong hiatus due to the coronavirus.
"You might be wonderings...Will the Halloween parade happen this year? We have received the necessary permits from NYC, so YES," organizers of the parade wrote on its website. "We encourage everyone to wear a mask! That should be easy because it’s Halloween!"

A city hall representative confirmed to the New York Post that the parade organizers have obtained a permit for the festive parade.
While the permits are worked out for the 2021 parade, organizers say that the very late go-ahead from the city means they don't have enough money to make the parade happen at this point.

The parade organizers need to raise $150,000 by Oct. 5. As of Sept. 22, they have raised just over $7,000.
"It is getting WAY late and we no longer have the luxury of spending months and months to raise funds," organizers wrote on a donation page. "So we are turning to the people we serve, the people we entertain, the people we celebrate - YOU - we need YOUR support."
If the event goes forward, comedian Randy Rainbow will be the Grand Marshall of New York City's Village Halloween Parade.
The Halloween parade typically runs up Sixth Ave from Spring Street to 16th Street through Greenwich Village.
