NYU Is Making Taylor Swift A Doctor
The announcement from the West Village school aligns with the music superstar dropping a new line of merch called "I'm Feeling 22."
WEST VILLAGE, NY — NYU is making Taylor Swift a doctor. The music superstar was recently announced as the Lower Manhattan school's commencement speaker for the graduating class of 2022, along with the news that she would receive an honorary doctorate of fine arts.
Not missing an opportunity, Swift launched a new line of merchandise at the end of March for college graduates called —"I'm Feeling 22."
The name is also a play on Swift's incredibly popular song, "22."

The new line includes $20 balloons, $25 cupcake toppers, $35 notebooks, $75 crewnecks, and $85 hoodies. You can check out the full set of new merch on the Taylor Swift Store.
The commencement ceremony for the 2022 NYU class will take place on May 19 at Yankee Stadium. That evening, the university will also hold commencement for the classes of 2022 and 2021, who weren't able to have an in-person ceremony because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Swift never took a class at NYU, but she has lived in the West Village and famously has a song called "Cornelia Street."
"An 11-time Grammy winner, Ms. Swift is one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation," reads a news release from NYU. "She is the only female artist in history to win the music industry’s highest honor, the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, three times."
NYU also had a past class where they studied her work, but she wasn't involved.
“I cannot overstate how thrilled I am to be coming together in person with graduates, parents, faculty, and honorees for NYU’s Commencement. Since 2019, we have been deprived of Commencement’s festive, communal joy, and its absence has been keenly felt,” said NYU President Andrew Hamilton, in a news release.
