Trio Of West Village Restaurants Burglarized In 48 Hours: Police

The three burgalrized West Village restaurants are within a 3-minute walk from one another near Hudson Street. Here's what the NYPD knows.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A trio of restaurants in the West Village was burglarized on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day by two men who forced open front and side doors of the businesses, a spokesperson from the New York Police Department wrote in an email on Tuesday.

The three restaurants are within a three-minute walk from another and all sit on or just off Hudson Street.

Incident #1: Around 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, an unidentified man entered the Bus Stop Cafe at 597 Hudson Street by prying open the front door, according to the NYPD. Once inside, the individuals took roughly $666 from the cash register and fled the scene, police said.

Incident #2: On Saturday, Jan. 1, two unidentified men entered the Mole Restaurant at 57 Jane Street just after midnight by breaking the locks of the basement cellar door, police said. Once inside, the men attempted to get into two safes before taking roughly $600 from the cash register, police said.

Incident #3: Also on Saturday, Jan. 1, at around 1:30 a.m., two unidentified men entered the Mary Lane Restaurant at 99 Bank Street through an unlocked side door, police said. The individuals proceeded to take multiple Apple iPads and a laptop before fleeing, police said.

There were no employees or customers present at the time of any of these restaurant burglaries.
