West Village Doggie Costume Contest To Return With Festivities
Shops, restaurants, and other businesses in the Meatpacking District will also be offering kid and adult friendly treats.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Details were just released about the annual Meatpacking Doggie Costume Contest in the West Village.
The fourth rendition of Treats In The Streets will take place throughout the Meatpacking District on Oct. 22 and feature local shops, restaurants, and businesses.
Here's a breakdown of the schedule for the day.

- All day - Edward Hopper Opening Weekend at the Whitney Museum of American Art
- 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Live music on Gansevoort Plaza, W 13th St., 14th St. Park
- 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Artists & Fleas Outdoor Market
- 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 3 - 5 p.m. - Pet Portraits by Laura Baran
- Noon - Drag Queen Story Hour on Gansevoort Plaza
- 2 p.m. - The Meatpacking District’s 4th Annual Doggie Costume Contest on Little W 12th St.
- 3 - 4 p.m. - Spooky Storytime at the Google Store
And yes, there is a runway for the costumed dogs to walk down with their owners.
The participating restaurants and businesses include Chelsea Market, Diane Bon Furstenberg, Fig & Olive, Gansevoort Hotel, the Google Store, Liftonic, Neighborhood Goods, Serafina, SIMO PIZZA, SoHo Home Studio, the Old Yew Plant Shop, The Standard, and the clothing store Theory.

There will also be around a dozen vendors within an outdoor market at the 14th Street Park and a Meatpacking Business Improvement District Welcome Table.
Candy, cider, cocktails, pizza, candied apples, and more will be among the sweets and treats handed out.
The dog costume contest will be hosted by Meatpacking District BID's executive director Jeffrey LeFrancois, and judges will pick out the top three costumes of the day.
