Charges Dropped Against Taylor Geib

Charges of criminally negligent homicide have been dismissed following a last year, according to Newsday.

A Suffolk judge recently dismissed the charges against Taylor Geib, now 18 years old, reportedly stating that, "The defendant's behavior was certainly negligent and unquestionably blameworthy but the crash was, as a matter of law, the result of a noncriminal failure to perceive a risk."

The noncriminal failure to preceive risk refers to Geib's excessive speed on the 30-mile-per-hour road; he was , as well as a lane violation.

At that time, were also dropped due to blood tests taken on the night of the fatal crash.

"The driver in a fatal East Quogue crash had no alcohol or drugs in his system," read a release from Bob Clifford, spokesman for the DA, last summer. "Toxicology results of an East Quogue teenager's blood showed no alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of a fatal crash on Lewis Road on June 26."
