Dramatic Videos Of Raging Brush Fires On Long Island: WATCH

LONG ISLAND, NY — With the raging brush fires that broke out on Long Island this weekend 100 percent knocked down and more than 60 percent contained Monday, videos are still pouring in of the dramatic scene as it unfolded.

Firefighters braved fierce winds and frigid temps to battle the blaze, which actually "jumped the road" near Gabreski Airport in Westhampton, according to Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine.

The fire burned a swath of land about 1 mile wide and 2 miles long as it raced east, Southampton Town police said, thanking the Westhampton Beach Fire Department and "countless" other agencies that responded.
"We are proud to work alongside the brave and dedicated first responders that serve our communities," Southampton police said.

Motorists showed video of flames creeping right up to Sunrise Highway as they were driving — but unlike the fires of 1995, the fire did not cross Sunrise Highway Saturday.
