Incident Reports: Town Beach Sticker Stolen; $4,800 in Cash Taken from Car

Crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department:

Trespassing

• A Flanders resident reported to police on July 20 that sometime between July 7 and July 19 someone broke into his home and slept in his bed. The resident said things were moved around in the home, but nothing was taken.

• A Flanders resident told police on July 19 that two air conditioning units were taken from his Flanders Road yard. The units were valued at $500.

• A Remsenburg resident told police on July 15 that someone stole path lights that lead to his Cedar Lane home.

• A Quogue resident told police on July 15 that someone stole an envelope with $4,800 in cash from his car. He said the envelope was hidden in trash in the backseat of his car. He told police that he thought the car had been locked.  

Petty Larceny

• The Valero station on Peconic Avenue in Riverside reported on July 17 that a man, wearing a black t-shirt walked into the store and stole candy.

• Olympia Sports in Hampton Bays reported on July 21 that some youths sole several pairs of socks from the store, which has a no chase policy.

• An East Quogue resident told police on July 18 that someone stole three pool ladders from  Louis Road. Police are investigating.

• A Hampton Bays woman told police that on July 18 someone stole her iPhone from her car as well has her purse and driver’s license. She said her car was parked on Montauk Highway in East Quogue.

• A Hampton Bays resident told police on July 16 that someone stole his Southampton Town Beach parking permit from his car.

Dog at Large

• Police were called to help find a pitbull, named Daisy, who was spotted running across Flanders Road on July 18. Witnesses said the dog nearly caused several accidents. Police attempted to catch the dog, but it ran off into a field.

Burglary

• A Fordham Road in Hampton Bays resident called police on July 15 to report that someone broke into his house and stole $800 in cash, garden shovels, wrenches and the keys to the house.
