Intoxicated Man Punches Officer, Screams Obscenities In Hamptons: PD

He was arrested Thursday night in Hampton Bays, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A man was arrested Thursday after yelling, using obscene language and punching an officer while intoxicated in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at about 7:53 p.m. Police received a report about a man at the Hamlet Green who was acting in a disorderly manner, authorities said.

Upon arrival, the officer identified the man who, while in an intoxicated condition, was yelling and using obscene language, causing alarm to the establishment’s employees and patrons, police said.

Responding to the employees' request, the officer asked the man to vacate the establishment on his own accord, but he refused, became combative, and struck the officer on the chest with a closed fist, police said.

Ricardo Orellana-Alpe, 29, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing; he was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment —and released on an appearance ticket with a future arraignment date taking place at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
