Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated On Shinnecock Bay: PD
He was arrested Saturday, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY —A Connecticut man was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated after his vessel ran aground while out on the Shinnecock Bay, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, Jack Farrell, 23, of Westbrook, CT, was arrested Saturday night at 9:02 p.m. At about 5:45 p.m. the Southampton Town Police Department's marine patrol received a report of a 30-foot fiberglass boat that had run aground while out on the Shinnecock Bay near the inlet — and had possibly started to take on water while traveling toward the Shinnecock Canal, police said.
The Southampton Town Police Department's marine patrol unit eventually located the vessel in Peconic Bay and boarded the vessel operated by Farrell, police said.

Farrell and his vessel were escorted back to the Shinnecock County Park marina, police said. Farrell was further interviewed by police and was found to have been operating the vessel while intoxicated, police said.
Farrell was arrested and charged with operating a vessel while intoxicated, a navigation law misdemeanor, police said. He was transported to Southampton Town Police Department headquarters for arrest processing; he was held to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court at a morning arraignment, police said.
