Man Charged With DWI After Leaving Scene Of Hampton Bays Crash: Police
The incident took place Sunday night on Montauk Highway and Canoe Place Road, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Sunday, police said.
Southampton Town police said that at about 5:06 p.m., a call came in about a crash on Montauk Highway East at the intersection of Canoe Place Road. One of the drivers involved in the crash left the scene but was located a short time later, police said.
Paul George Carvis, 57, was arrested and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing, police said. He was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DWI; leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage; a violation; and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was held overnight to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for morning arraignment, police said.
