Man Charged With DWI Left Scene Of 2-Car Crash In Hampton Bays: PD

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Westhampton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after leaving the scene of a two-car crash in Hampton Bays Thursday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place at 8:42 p.m. on Ponquogue Avenue near King Street in Hampton Bays; responding officers were able to locate the vehicle that had left the scene.

Yelson T. Tojalgua, 26, was found to be driving in an intoxicated condition, police said. He was arrested at the scene and then transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing, police said. He was charged with misdemeanor DWI and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, police said.

Tojalgua was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
