New Bike Trail Being Constructed In Hampton Bays

The new bike trail, aimed at enhancing outdoor recreation and promoting healthy lifestyles, will span about 2 miles, town officials say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Construction is underway on a new bike trail from Good Ground Park to Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays.

According to Southampton Town officials, the trail will begin in the western extents of Good Ground Park and" meander northerly through the woods, eventually meeting with Old Riverhead Road on the northern side of the park."

The trail will then switch to an on-road bike lane and continue easterly along Old Riverhead Road, northerly along Squiretown Road, westerly along Old Riverhead Road, and finally northerly into Red Creek Park.

The new bike trail, geared towards enhancing outdoor recreation and promoting healthy lifestyles, will span about 2 miles and features accessible paths and scenic woodland views within Good Ground Park, town officials said.

The trail will provide on and off road bicycle accommodations for various skill levels and cater to cyclists of all ages.

Construction work will be taking place in the parks and surrounding roadways until late May.

"'For your safety, please follow all posted signs, detours, and staff instructions while visiting these areas," town officials said.
