Walmart Makes Back-To-School Easier for Mom

Back-to-school supply lists are available online and in stores, making shopping a breeze.

Mothers approach the new school year as a fresh beginning.

Forget New Year's Eve: According to a "Walmart Class of 2012 Survey," 76 percent of mothers who have children in grades kindergarten through 12 consider the first day of school the official start of the new year.

The Walmart study also states that nine out of ten moms make resolutions, with 78 percent vowing to get organized to tackle the months ahead filled with carpooling, homework, tests, projects, sports and other school events.

To make Mom's job easier, Walmart has launched  -- classrooms.walmart.com, an online compilation of thousands of classroom supply lists representing schools in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., making it easier for moms to get their back-to-school supplies online and in Walmart stores.

No more begging the kids to bring home the school supply list, or buying tons of school supplies only to learn on the first day of school that everything purchased is wrong.

“For the moms who shop our stores, back-to-school isn’t just about checking items off their lists. It’s about a fresh start, changing routines and getting children ready with products that match their personalities and budgets,” said Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S. “We’re committed to setting our customers up for success this back-to-school season by sticking to our plan – offering everyday low prices and the broadest assortment of the right merchandise their families need.” 

The “Walmart Class of 2012 Back-to-School Survey” identified saving money and eating healthier topped the list of moms’ new school year resolutions.

In the survey, mothers across the country said their most imporant purchases for the school year are back-to-school clothes, shoes and backpacks.

To that end, Walmart’s Back to School Closet Creator helps kids to mix and match outfits on a budget; customers can also bring back any apparel item with a receipt within 90 days for a full refund.
