Week in Review: Halloween Returns, Football Fight and Dredging

1. Halloween Returns to Main Street

A decision to move Westhampton Beach's annual Halloween's festivities to the Westhampton Beach Elementary School and close them to the public has been reversed. On Oct. 31, Main Street will once again be filled with ghosts, goblins, princesses and pirates, carrying bucketfuls of candy.

Over the past several months, Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch has chronicled some of the more prominent empty buildings in the area from the Westhampton Bowling Alley to the Foggy Goggle in Hampton Bays to the Pastor Chevrolet Building and former Surf Club. 3. Superintendent: Football Fight Not in the Spirit of High School Athleticism

Hampton Bays Superintendent Lars Clemensen, this week, responded to an incident in which members of the Hampton Bays and Southampton football teams fought during a friday night game, which resulted in player ejections and an early end of the game.

4. Village Pays Up for Harassing Cop Letter

After reaching settlement terms in court, Quogue Village will pay $16,500 to a former employee after a village police officer admitted to entering her home uninvited and leaving an explicit letter on her mantle.

5. Bishop: Shinnecock Inlet Dredging Will Start in November

The long-awaited dredging of the Shinnecock Inlet is set to commence in November and conclude in January, according to statement from U.S. Rep. Tim Bishop, of Southampton.
