5 Things to Do at West Islip Library During Holiday Break

There are programs for youngsters, teens and adults.

Now with school closed for the holiday week, the house is noisier and it’s a bit harder to get anything done if you’re also home on vacation with the family.

So what better time than to catch up on what’s happening at the local library. There’s plenty going on in addition to all the new books, videos, and events.

Go Bilingual in the New Year

Sign up the kids for the MuzzyOnline program that teaches new languages. What a great way to learn together and have a new skill in the new year.

Friday Film Fest

Tuck the kids into a reading area and treat yourself to the film “Jobs,” which is the film about Apple creator Steve Jobs. The film starts at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.

Learn Hometown History

Whether you’re a West Islip native, or brand-new to the community, it’s likely you don’t know everything there is to know about West Islip. So schedule sometime to listen to an oral history collection the library boasts thanks to the sharing of over a dozen longtime residents.

Register for New Programs

Mark the calendar to get to the library on January 2 so you can sign yourself and the kids up for a slew of new programs. There’s a healthy list of things for pre-teen and teens to do in January and February, so don’t forget to check them out. Just click here.
