Barraga Meets With Randi Shubin Dresner of Island Harvest

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Barraga recently met with Randi Shubin Dresner, President and CEO of Island Harvest a hunger relief agency. The agency procures and distributes food that has been donated from area supermarkets, farms, caterers and other businesses that direct their surplus to them.

In these difficult economic times the unfortunate truth is that 1 in 10 Long Islanders rely on emergency food assistance to make it through the month. Relying on in-kind support and a large volunteer corps Island Harvest operates various food programs servicing the needs of Long Island residents faced with food insecurity.
