The Paul J. Bellew third grade Recycling Club recently partnered with Keep Islip Clean to collect and donate sneakers to a program that turns the soles of shoes into ahtletic turf fields. In total, 216 sneakers were donated to Nike's Re-Use a Shoe Program. The sneakers will be sent to the Nike plant where the rubber soles will be cut off and used for padding under athletic turf fields. Information and photo provided by West Islip School District.
