Real Estate Mogul Faces Charges for Fatal Sag Harbor Hit-and-Run

The driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in August will face up to 25 years in prison, according to officials.
Sean Ludwick, 42, a Manhattan developer and part-time East End resident, is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 6 in Central Islip, said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.
The indictment charges the defendant with nine crimes and four traffic violations; three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of vehicular manslaughter in the first-degree, one count of manslaughter in the second degree, one charge of leaving the scene, two counts of driving while intoxicated, one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, failure to stay in a single lane and driving on the shoulder or slope of the roadway.

The top charge of aggravated vehicular homicide is punishable by a sentence in state prison of eight and one-third to 25 years, Spota said.
As previously reported by Patch, Real estate broker Paul Hansen, 53, of Sag Harbor died at the scene on Rolling Hill Court East in Sag Harbor where Ludwick struck a utility pole at a curve. The defendant and his damaged Porsche were found by police on Woodvale Street more than a block away from the crash, the release states.

Sag Harbor Village Police, New York State Police, the New York State Police Forensic ID and Collision Reconstruction Unit, and the District Attorney’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau assisted town police in the investigation of the crash.
Ludwick is free on $1 million bond.
State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho will preside at the Jan. 6 arraignment in the First District courthouse. The court calendar will start at 9:30 a.m.
