A fire damaged a home on Higbie Lane just before Wednesday morning.  Members of the West Islip Fire Department responded to the fire just before 8 a.m. on February 20. Under the direction of Chief John McAuley, the blaze was quickly contained. No injuries were reported, according to First Assistant Chief Blaise Gemellaro. The North Babylon and Bay Shore Fire Departments also provided assistance. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Suffolk County Arson Squad.
