West Islip Man Runs Over Grandmother With Car, Charged With Murder: Cops

WEST ISLIP, NY — A man who intentionally struck an 80-year-old woman in West Islip has been apprehended and arraigned, Suffolk County police said.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives apprehended

Raymond Gallo, 28, of West Islip, is charged with second-degree murder in the connection with the death of his grandmother, Helga McNulty, of Babylon, police said.

On Oct. 16, McNulty exited Gallo's vehicle on Tanglewood Road and Ryan Street at about 9:25 p.m.

Gallo made a U-turn and struck McNulty with the vehicle, continuing southbound on
Tanglewood Road, police said.

McNulty was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Detectives apprehended Raymond Gallo on Friday with a warrant for murder charges, police said. He was arraigned on the warrant in Suffolk County Criminal Court in Riverhead.
