Police Rescue Man Who Fell Into Water After Robert Moses Crash

The man had fallen into the water after the crash, police say.

WEST ISLIP, NY — A man who fell into the water after a West Islip car crash only received treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, thanks to Suffolk County law enforcement.

At about 2:27 a.m. on Sunday, a 21-year-old Roosevelt man was involved in a motor vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge, exited the vehicle and fell into the water.

State Police were able to throw a line to the man until Marine Bureau Officers arrived at the scene.

At about 2:40 a.m., officers Liam Lyons and Edmund McDowell were on board Marine X-Ray when they pulled the man and took him to West Islip Marina and Beach.

He was then taken by an ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash on the bridge is under investigation by the New York State Police.
