Some relief finally slated for West Islip motorists

In a letter dated October 18 from the Long Island Regional Director of the Department of Transportation to Senator Phil Boyle the north Sunrise Highway Service Road from Manor Lane to Udall Road is scheduled for resurfacing in the spring of 2022. Letting for this project is currently scheduled for February 3 with construction set to begin approximately 45 days later. This stretch of road remains laden with unfilled potholes and rough road and has been long overdue for resurfacing. Also included for resurfacing during next spring is the Southern State Parkway from Route 231 to the Sagtikos Parkway and the South Sunrise Service Road between Malts Avenue and Udall Road.
